GROSSER AND GROSSER

Continuing on from the previous post about the Internet... I came across more sites than I can cope with, it was making me upset some of the stuff. I took some time out and went out of BKK (had to anyway, my visa was running out so flew to Singapore for a "breath of fresh air"). Coming back to BKK, it was good to look at it with a little detachment, because thought its GROSS (this sex toursim stuff I mean) its really more a combination of SAD and GROSS. Its almost funny some of it. But deadly serious too.

Anyway bakc to the Internet: this Bangkok Bad Boy guy leads to the blog of a guy (or guys) who own a "gogo bar" in the Nana Place complex. This is one of these "boys clubs" where they swap info on STUFF of every kind. "Beginners Guide To Picking up Girls off a Dark Backstreet", that kind of thing. You really do not want to read this, so I've done it for you, and if you're a sensitive nature you might want to go look at a Hello Kitty website NOW.

OK, still with me? Get this: you thought gogo (a sort of takeout lapdance bar) was bad? They have worse. BLOW JOB BARS!!!!!! Where guys go - for a few 100 baht - the title says it all: Lolita’s – Suck it and see! by Shuttlecock ONLY READ IF U HAVE MINDBLEACH AT THE READY if you don't want to, heres a snippet: "well that took me over the edge and I filled her mouth like a chipmunk stocking up for winter.. she took it all then unceremoniously emptied the contents into a handful of tissues.." eeewwwwwwwwwww

Gonna give this a break I think

Internet too

So Dave said some friends of his had turned up in BKK and he was spending the weekend with them :-(, so no "gogo bar" today or tomorrow unless I find another decent guy who can keep his hands to itself. Anyway too hot, too unwell to do anything much, spent the day mainly asleep, and now I've been like hours in this Internetcafe because I started doing some online research and its like just as bad online as in real life. I mean I was expecting to find maybe some old guys diaries about how many babes they'd banged or something, but its muchmuch worse, there's a whole infrastructure out there dedicated to Thai prostitution, how to get the best "deals", how to screw the girls best (not only literally!!!).

Now, I'm going to link to some of these sites, so click at your own risk!!! Actually most of them don't have much visual smut, theyre all too busy talking about their deeds.

Right off, first place I came across was actually a gal who dared to take a critical look at the "sex-pat world" as she calls it ( http://www.expatgirl.blogspot.com/ , same blogger layout as me!). Looks like she only made the one post / podcast and crumbled under the blast of misogony. (So heaven help me here, but I guess noones found their way here yet). OK, so its similar to what I'm saying her, but the links from there are real eyeopeners. Straight off I find this BangkokBadBoy character (click on the link at your own risk) - classic example of what I mean. Don't know how old the guy is - maybe mid 20s - and his blog is an almost daily diary of "how many birds I shagged today". And not a few digs at the Western Woman, who if you believe what is written there, is a big fat bitch.

So, then you look at the comments, its like a meeting place for sexpats and sex tourists and you follow one link and you get deeper and deeper into a twisty maze of sites - all by different people with different motivations, but one thing in mind: screwing the "LBFMs" as someone so elegantly put it. These guys love their acronyms, this one is really abusive at all levels so if you want to know what it means, look it up yourself.

Some other acronyms I learned: "ST" is short time, i.e. where the guy takes the girl for a couple of hours (usually to a grotty "short time" hotel room), and the opposite of course "LT", long time, where the guy keeps the girl overnight. But then usually in their own hotel, which they've previously checked out as "GF", girl friendly, i.e. the staff don't bat an eyelid if you wonder in at midnight with someone in toe who's clearly not your SO (Significant Other, spouse or partner, whose usually back home on the ranch doing the dishes in these guys imaginiations). Another good one to know and this one I find quite funny haha, is LB - ladybody, i.e. transvestite, because it looks like there are a lot of these around (come to think of it some of the "girls" on the street we saw from the Starbucks the other night I'm sure must be really have been LBs, i.e. guys) and the really funny thing is they disguise themselves so well some guys don't notice, until theyre back in their hotel rooms and getting down to business and they notice they got more than they bargained for, LOL!!!!!

'K, theres more stuff out there than I can cope with now, so I'm gonna call it a day for now.

Sukhumvit

Had a bad day yesterday - must of eaten something bad, but Dave from yesterday got me some medicine which perked me up (he is Scottish by the way, I remembered to ask) and we hit the road (and the skytrain) in the mid evening. Got off at Nana Station (skytrain), it was like there was some tarts convention going on nearby. We followed the general stream of people out of the station, if there was any doubt just go the same way the fat bald guys and the tarts. Sukhumvit is like a wierd street, lots of stalls selling souveniers and stuff, a lot of tourist kitsch but some interesting things too. If I'd been alone I might have spent all evening just looking, tho some of the sellers are a bit pushy.

Anyway we got to where the girls were going, which was Soi 4 ("Soi" means sidestreet) a short-ish walk from the station, and it was literally heaving with bodys. I mean, meat market, - bars, those street food stands, souvenier sellers, bars and of course girls everwhere. And the Great White Male in huge numbers, coem to hunt their prey - or as Dave put it, "shoot fish in a barell". We walked about a bit, past the entrance to this Nana Plaza place, it was smaller than I thought but looks like it goes in a long way with "gogo bars" on 3 or 4 levels. Lots of neon and terrible disco music. We didn't find anywhere we'd find comfortable to sit and grab something to drink to get our bearings, there was a hotel opposite but it was just as seedy as everything else. So we ended up going back to the main Sukumvit street, and found a Starbuck. OK I don't like going to places like that normally, it makes a mockery of going abroad, but it was the only place not heaving with girls and sex tourists.

Upstairs you can sit and watch the street, at least the part of it directly in front the starbucks, and that's a sight enough. Seems not only is the Nana Plaza place, but also prostitutes lining the street too, among the stalls and tuktuks. Just soo crazy. And here too you see guys of all ages, I mean all ages, going with the girls. Dave was pretty amazed at this too, I can tell you.

Anyway by now I had a headache, probably from earlier on, so we went back to the relative sanity of Khao San, I suggested we could come again and see if we could get into a "gogo bar" to see what goes on, but Dave is reluctant ("not the place I'd want to go for a first date" he said, not sure through my headache if there was a deeper meaning to that).

Didn't see much

So I took the skytrain down Sukhumvit (sorry, in the last post I spelled it wrong) to the end of the line to On Nut. Couldnt' see much though. At On Nut there's a big place called "Tescos", had a look around and a cup of coffee. It was a bit like Walmart or something, nothing special, dont come to Thailand just for this LOL. Went back to Khao San road, because it was already dark, to get some laundery done. (Or rather, have it done for me - it's so cheap here). And anway, at the hotel "bar" met this guy called Dave, who's Scottish or British (can't remember which), he's been upcountry on a spiritual retreat, which sounded cool, and he's staying in BKK for a few days to "retoxicate", as he put it. So we got talking, and he was really getting how I'm seeing the whole situation here, with guys and the sex trade. He said he's seen so much of Thailand but has always avoided that aspect of it because it clashes with his spirituality and he's afraid he might get dragged into it somehow if he goes near. 'K, so I tell him I want to see Sukhumvit after dark, and he's cool with that because I can be his "anchor" and that will let him "observe from a detached distance".

So we're going to go together tomorrow or maybe the day after and get a handle on the situation. It's great hes a really cool guy by the way, because that "anchor" remark a girl can interpret in different ways you know, but he is so into the spiritual thing I know it's metaphorical, and I felt like so lightened after talking to him (Note: not enlightened, it wasn't that kind of deep spiritual conversation, but the way he talks its like having a weight lifted off your shoulders).

Even worse than I thought

So, I've been doing like lots of tourist stuff, and I'm based just off the Khao San Road which is in the center of BKK (that's Bangkok) and if you look on the map it's right in the middle of the city, not far from where all the old palaces and temples and stuff are. Khao San Road is like where all the travelers stay, though the "old hands" say it's become a night life place too in the last few years, and you see a lot young Thai people too, which is good because its hard to meet real Thais. Anyway, so you see a few "young ladies" where you think, like, "she's on the game" but it's not like there's much of that stuff here, Though the young guys who walk down the Khao San road with their latest "conquest", it's like everyone looks at each other and says silently "we know where she came from".

'K, so I went to have a look at the Patpong place, its near the Silom Road, and in the day there's not much to see there (no darts or razors shooting out of windows injuring passersby!!). But its hot there, not much in the way of malls, so I took the skytrain to the shopping district which is in the other direction, lots of big air-conditioned places. (Check out Gaysorn Plaza if you're a shopping freak, the name's a bit of a bad choice but wow the shopping is like, everything!). One place I found a big Japanese bookstore (KINUKONIYA, what's with all the Japanese places here anyway?!) with a big section of English books, and like wow, there are even all sorts of novels about guys and what they get up to in BKK. Yeah, what do you think? Anyway, see my real blog for some interesting stuff on Thailand I found, but what I also learnt is the "action" is not much around the Patpong place now; it's concentrated along the "Sukumwit" street around a place called Nana Plaza (which even has its own skytrain station). So, what's a girl going to do? I need to know what I'm dealing with here, but I'm not sure if it's safe? (I'm in an internetcafe now, lots of those around). OK, my map shows me the skytrain runs along the Sukumwit, so I'll just have a look "from above" today and come back tomorrow better prepared (forewarned is forearmed, my mother likes to say).

It's everywhere

I've been a couple of days in Bangkok now, mainly orientating and doing a bit of siteseeing / shopping. It's an incredible place, huge and takes a while to find your way around, though the taxi-drivers are very helpful. But enough of this travelogue.

What's been really hitting me in Thailand - both down south and now in Bangkok - is that "IT" is everywhere. The "S" word. OK, we're all adults (and if you're not, click here) - I mean SEX. Let's be clear first: I'm not a puritan, what two consenting adults do in private is their own business. AND though I don't like it, I think prostitution is a "neccessary evil" which gives certain types of men an outlet they otherwise would'nt have. Just as long as the sisters in the business are in properly controlled (i.e. safe, clean, healthy) environments and are'nt being forced to do anything they don't want do.

BUT here in Thailand it is like it's everywhere. Before I came I heard about this district in Bangkok ("Patpong", I now know its called) where the sex shows are, girls shooting the oddest stuff from their private parts and of course the rooms for doing the deed (though who would want to do it with a girl who's just had razors up there, I don't know). That's cool, every place needs its freak show. BUT dig this: on Samui I went for a massage. Yeah, the word massage can sound a bit seedy, but Thailand is famous for its massage, and it's like so cheap but so amazingly good. And I went into this one place, and was getting a massage in a curtained-off area at the back of the shop, and in the next cubicle-like thing there was this guy, evidently - I could hear him groaning, like it was a great massage, then like this huge sigh, and the girl who was massaging me said like it was a joke "him lucky man, have happy end". Now at the time I thought that was a wierd thing to say, but on the way up on the bus to Bangkok there were these two guys in front of me and they were talking about the great massages they'd had, and it turned out every massage was just a sort of foreplay and get this - the happy end is what it sounds like, i.e. they were getting "serviced" by the massage girls. And not just by hand, some places it's like the whole caboodle. GROSS, I'm staying away from these massage places until I'm sure I can find somewhere (there must be some) where I know the masseur's hands haven't just been oiling some guy's sticky bits.

So what i'm saying here is: if you're a guy in Thailand, even young, there is so much temptation. I know guys tick differently and let their dicks do the thinking too much, but the way it is here,it's just sooooo corrupting especially for the younger ones (and by young I mean anyone under say 40), because theyre gonna get home with totally the wrong expectations, and it's us girls who are going to get the blame for not being slutty enough.

So, what's this blog?

So... I'm really really steamed up about this. I'm gonna make this blog seperate from my main one, because its a sensitive issue, but its one that really really needs talking about. Up front, in public, not in some boring symposium or charity forum, good work that they're doing.

If you know me (and if you don't, I'll tell you anyway): I'm a California girl, I've been travelling the Pacific Rim the last three months or so. (If you know me, see my other blog for the happier details. If you don't, tough boots). So, and I decided to spend some time in Thailand because it's a really devout Buddhist country, and also to visit the Full Moon Festival in Ko Phangnan (supposed to be cool - wasn't). And while I was there I stayed on Ko Samui for a few days, and that was like a mega-shock. I sorta knew about Bangkok being a Mecca for sex tourists but in Thailand it's like everywhere, at least where any tourists (even families!!!!) go. It's so in-your-face, you'd have to be a blind nun in a wheelchair not to notice it.

OK, I'd say I'm a quite open-minded person, I mean they don't call it the world's oldest profession for nothing, and I really think it's like a kind of therapy or release valve for guys who really need it or can't get it any other way. So you see these fat old guys in their disgusting singlets hand-in-hand with their little bought girlfriend and you think "GROSS", but maybe if they didn't have that they'd be doing worse worse things, and from what I hear the girls in Thailand don't have pimps or handlers (except the bar owners - they have things called bar fines, that's a whole other post), so I guess the money is at least staying with the girls and they can save for a better future.

But this what really shocked me, and this is really like OMG how can they do this, you look around and it's not just the old fat guys. It's any guy. EVEN THE YOUNG GOOD-LOOKING ONES. Wtf are they thinking!?!? I mean, like at this party, there were loads of ravers, I'd guess 18 upwards to about my age (mid 20s), and a few ageing hippies of course. And there were all these Thai girls come over from Samui and they were like going with the guys, FOR MONEY. Believe me, I saw it happening, and heard guys talk about it, boast about it like they'd scored a real woman.

These guys are gonna have to get a dose of reality, or theyre gonna mature thinking all women are easy and CAN BE BOUGHT. And when they leave Fantasyland and get back home to the States or wherever, they're gonna end up sad and frustrated because they won't have the faintest idea how to treat real women.

So yeah, I'm like totally mad. This has so spoiled my time in Thailand and made me look at the Human Race (especially the half of it with some real dicks) with like totally new eyes. But I'm not gonna sit here and just rant - I'm gonna do something about it. Maybe it'll just be a drop on a hot stone as they say, but this girl aint gonna say she just lay back and let it happen.

Right now I'm in Bangkok and I'm gonna see what organisations I can get in touch with so we can get this out in the open. I'll be posting here as things develop and i find new facts.
